World Menopause Month

This October we are celebrating World Menopause Month. This is to honour those who have experienced the end of their menstrual cycle and to eliminate the stigma associated with it.

We support methods to improve well-being and health for women of all ages.

What is menopause?

Menopause is the time in a woman's life when her period stops since her ovaries are no longer producing hormones. Menopause is diagnosed 12 months after a woman has her last period; the years leading up to this consist of fluctuation in periods, hot flushes, or other symptoms. In addition, menopause usually occurs when a woman is in her 40s or 50s.

What are the symptoms of menopause?

Symptoms of menopause can include the following:

  • Mood swings

  • Insomnia

  • Hot flushes

  • Headaches

  • Bloating

  • Breast soreness

  • Memory lapses

  • Night sweats

  • Vaginal dryness

  • Chills

  • Hair loss

How can I manage menopausal symptoms?

A balanced and healthy diet, regular exercise, and hormone replacement therapy can help with managing menopausal symptoms.

Having the right nutrition can boost energy levels and help with fatigue. This can consist of vegetables, nuts, cereal, fish, etc.
